THE LAUNCH OF THE ANIMATION STUDIO Durban’s Centre for Fine Art, Animation and Design (CFAD) has been selected as an Institute of Excellence by the MAPPP Seta – one of only four institutions in South Africa to be selected. This accolade includes a grant, which will be used to establish the city’s first animation studio in Durban to facilitate broadcast quality animation training, and to enhance the institution’s training programme. The institute boasts a remarkable 98% graduate placement rate – is ecstatic about its new plans. At a launch function on the 19th February 2011, keynote speaker Mac Maharaj, MAPP Seta CEO Bheki Zulu and Toni Monty from the Durban Film Office unanimously praised the organization and congratulated them on this remarkable achievement. The demand on online business has proliferated to a larger extent. A person can opt for the career in cartoon making or computer graphics. The advancement in technology demands more wide and extensive knowledge on sophisticated use of the animation software. There are a lot of opportunities for the aspirants to explore in this field. The Industry will benefit by now employing homegrown animators rather than outsourcing work and having to incur expenses that will not be necessary if employing a citizen. CFAD will now become a major national player in the field of animation. |
